Melanie Jerome's family appeals to public for help
Two weeks after Melanie Jerome went missing from her Edmonton home, her family gathered to make a plea to the public to provide tips in the case.
"We're appealing to the public to find out what did happen, because we're not really sure at this point." Dianna Berezowski, one of Jerome's daughters told reporters on Wednesday. The family is hoping someone has seen Jerome, and can provide some clues to her whereabouts.
Jerome was reported missing on Friday, July 16th. Her vehicle was found in south Edmonton on July 19th. Jerome has no medical issues, and family is concerned because the disappearance is out of character for her.
"We want to let Melanie know that we love her very much, and we're very worried." Melanie's sister Cheryl Jerome tearfully told reporters. Cheryl Jerome and her husband came from Winnipeg to help in the search for her sister.
The family has been putting up posters all over town, and they have also started a Facebook group to try and get more information.
"We're keeping our thoughts positive, and keeping our heads up," Berezowski said "We're hoping that Mom will be home, back to us soon."
Berezowski also said that police have been in contact with the family throughout the investigation and have kept them informed on the latest developments.
Jerome's husband, Scott Keith said the couple had a minor arguement before she disappeared, but he does not want to say what they fought about. He says he just wants to keep the search for Melanie in the public eye so she can come home to her 10-year-old daughter.
"What can I tell [my daughter]?" Keith said, "Her Mom is missing, and that's all we know."
Anyone who has information in the case or may have seen Melanie Jerome is asked to call police at 780-423-4567 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
