Domino-effect pile-up on the Yellowhead
Traffic on the Yellowhead near 127th Street was heavily backed up Sunday afternoon in both directions because of a crash involving a semi truck and multiple vehicles.
The crash was called in around 2:20 p.m., and initially, police reported up to 18 vehicles were involved. That number has since been downgraded to a total of vehicles.
Police says it's believed a medical episode caused the driver of an eastbound semi tractor trailer to veer into westbound traffic, causing a "domino effect" of crashes. As police continue to investigate, motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
So far, there are no reports of serious injuries, but two people were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
The Yellowhead was completely re-opened by 6 Sunday evening.
