EDMONTON- A man in his 30s is dead following an early morning collision in west Edmonton.
The accident happened shortly before 5:30 Saturday morning, in the southbound lanes of Anthony Henday Drive, just south of the 87th Avenue overpass.
Police say the man was killed when his pickup truck collided with a semi truck. Witnesses say the semi truck hit the pickup from behind as it sat with its four-way flashing lights on.
The southbound lanes of the Henday remain closed to traffic Saturday evening. Police have traffic blocked off between Stony Plain Road south and the Whitemud Drive exit.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area if at all possible Saturday night, as police continue their investigation.
Investigators have ruled out speed and alcohol as factors in the collision.
