Edmonton Police are launching phase two of Operation Warrant Execution.

For the past month, officers have given people with outstanding warrants the chance to deal with them on their own.

Starting Monday, police are stepping up enforcement on the program.

"EPS is now out rounding up people who haven't taken care of their warrants, obviously with the more serious offenders that are of jeopardy to our communities," says EPS Communications Advisor Scott Pattison adding, "On day one, EPS has gone out and executed 21 warrants, 14 criminal in nature, seven non-criminal."

Photos of the more serious offenders will be published in local newspapers for the next two weeks.

Pattison says two of the five people whose pictures were published Monday, have already been dealt with.

"Predominantly, what we're really interested in is dealing with the more serious offenders along the way," Pattison explains.

He says posters in LRT stations and billboards will also be popping up in the coming weeks.

Pattison says he is pleased with the success of OWE, with over 1,400 arrests and 3,000 warrants executed since the campaign began in March.
