Police say a suspect wanted for assaulting women near Whyte Avenue may be responsible for even more attacks.

There are now seven random attacks since March 18th and police believe they all involve the same suspect.

In all the cases, the suspect approaches women from behind as she is walking alone.

“The suspect may be getting more aggressive and violent,” warns Det. Rob Chan, “It is absolutely crucial that these types of crimes are reported to police immediately to assist in suspect identification.”

The victims range in age between 20 and 60.
Assaults have taken place on the following dates in 2012:
• March 18 – 3 a.m. in the area of 84 Avenue and 107 Street
• March 20 – 11:30 p.m. in the area of 81 Avenue and 87 Street
• March 28 – 10 p.m. in the area of 81 Avenue and 85 Street
• March 31 – 2 a.m. in the area of 84 Avenue and 117 Street
• April 1 – 2 a.m. in the area of 84 Avenue and 107 Street
• April 13 – 4:30 a.m. in the area of 64 Avenue and 109 Street
• April 29 – 3 a.m. in the area of 79 Avenue and 107 Street

“All of these women did the right thing,” says Chan. “They all screamed and fought back, which made the assailant run away.”

The suspect is described as a man between 5’4” and 6’ tall and about 150 pounds with a slim build. He was wearing blue jeans, with a hoodie.

Anyone with information that could help identify the suspect is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
