On Day Two of the Canadian Royal Visit, Kate Middleton did not disappoint her fashion fans around the world as she honoured Canada’s 144th birthday in a complimentary white and red ensemble. So what did Kate Middleton wear today? Here’s a brief overview:

The dress:

Fashionistas on Twitter and Facebook gave their nod of approval as Kate headed out to celebrate Canada Day in a cream/white dress by British label, Reiss.

Royal fashion fans were quick to notice that Kate had worn ‘The Nannette’ before, an outfit that caused hysteria last year when she was pictured wearing it in formal engagement portraits by Mario Testino.

Later in the evening, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge headed back to Parliament Hill for an evening show of festivities. While Prince William went tie-less, Kate changed into a stunning long sleeve purple Issa dress with a V-neck.

The hat/fascinator/hair:

What better way to pay homage to Canada and the fashion world than a red maple leaf fascinator? Designed by Sylvia Fletcher at Lock & Co, all eyes were on Kate—and her custom made headpiece as the royal highness kicked off Day 2 of the Royal Visit. Once again, Kate wore her hair down in loose waves but, later on in the evening, opted for a pulled back hairdo (sans the fascinator).

The shoes/handbag:

The Duchess of Cambridge finished off her first ensemble with a pair of red pumps, a fan clutch from Anya Hindmarch and The Queen's Maple Leaf brooch. The Queen, as Princess Elizabeth, wore the brooch on her first visit to Canada in 1951 and again on Canada Day last year.

While the brooch donned Kate's Issa outfit as well, the Duchess switched her red shoes for her much loved black Prada pumps.

The obsession over 'what Kate is wearing?' continues as fashion lovers and Canadian designers went into fashion frenzy yesterday.

The royal highness kicked off the 9-day Canadian royal tour, with her husband Prince William, in a navy blazer by Toronto-based design duo Smythe les Vestes and a black floral lace dress by Montreal-born Erdem Moralioglu.

Kate Middleton has quickly become a fashion icon. The ‘Kate Effect’ describes the Duchess of Cambridge’s influence on the fashion world. Both the Smythe blazer and the Erdem dress instantly became sought-after and must-have pieces for fashionistas.

Hit or miss?

"I feel like Kate found herself in today's look and finally incorporated elements that dazzle," says ET Canada fashion producer, Angie Smith. "The red fascinator is pure Kate - she's notorious for her hats (she's got the perfect face for them) and how sweet for her to go patriotic and pay tribute to our national holiday."

"She still looks as though she might be a little warm - if I was to get my hands on her wardrobe, I would still push a bit lighter fare."
