Edmonton teens to meet Will and Kate
It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. On Friday, a handful of Edmonton youths will get to mingle with the royal couple.
Five teens from the Youth Emergency Shelter Society are heading to Calgary, personally invited by Premier Stelmach, to attend a welcoming reception for Will and Kate.
In April, the province donated $7,500 to the youth shelter, as part of its wedding gift to the royal couple.
On Friday, the Duke and Dutchess will get to interact with the teens that benefited from the donation.
"When people that have the power to do stuff like that, actually go along and use their time to do this kind of stuff for kids like us, it really means a lot." says Christian Fauth, one of the teens scheduled to meet Will and Kate on Friday. "It shows that they go above what they need to do."
"It seems like it really is a reward for all the hard work I've been putting in." says Savannah Eshleman "For us to be able to go down and wear something nice and mingle a little bit with people we probably never in our lives get the chance to meet."
Edmonton's Youth Emergency Shelter provides accommodation and programs to help homeless and at-risk teens, in our city.
