VANCOUVER - Going into the third and final period, the score was 3-0 to the Boston Bruins, and the Canucks tried hard to pull it back and regain control of the game.

Luongo stayed in goal despite letting in three goals in the first two periods.

Jannik Hansen gave Boston a power play about six minutes into the third period, when he was called for interference. Boston was able to get a couple of shots on Luongo during that time, but couldn’t score again.

Dejected fans started leaving downtown Vancouver during the period as the time ran down and the Canucks had yet to score.

Daniel Sedin had a good shot on net with about 12 minutes to go, but Thomas was still able to maintain his shutout.

There were many comments that the Canucks had no spark or no life to them during Game 7, and they needed to shake things up a little.

Milan Lucic got a penalty for hooking in the 11th minute, and he was upset because none of those calls had been made all night, but it put Vancouver on a power play. However, they did not manage to score and the result remained 3-0 for the Bruins.

With just a few minutes to go, Marchand scored in an empty net as Luongo had been pulled off the ice. After the fourth goal, Luongo was back but it seemed as if it was too late for the Canucks, and they couldn't pull it back with just a few minutes to go.

The final score in Game 7 in the 2011 Stanley Cup final was 4-0 for the Boston Bruins.

The Bruins became the only team ever to win three Game 7s in Stanley Cup history, and the Vancouver Canucks retreated to their dressing room. However, the fans stood inside Rogers Arena waving their towels in support of their team, even though they could not bring home the cup.
