Some areas south of Edmonton are under a winter storm warning.
According to Environment Canada, dangerous winter weather conditions like blowing snow were seen in Devon, Pigeon Lake, Drayton Valley, Rimbey, Red Deer, Ponoka, Innisfail, and Stettler.
Highway 2 near Ponoka was shut down Saturday afternoon because of an accident. It is now re-opened. RCMP are now advising against travelling on the QEII between Bowden and Didsbury due to snow covered and slippery roads, as well as poor visibility.
Motorists are asked to drive with extra caution.
The snowstorm is expected to bring snow to much of the province, with the greatest snowfall expected to be over southwest Alberta. The Drayton Valley area was forecasted to receive up to 15 centimetres by Sunday morning.
