Vermilion RCMP are investigating a homicide in a rural area near Ranfurly, Alberta, which is about 140 kilometres east of Edmonton.
The man's body was discovered on Saturday, October 20th around 8:30 p.m. after RCMP were called to a complaint of a sudden death.
The death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy was performed in Edmonton on Monday.
The victim's name has not yet been released, nor is the cause or manner of death.
Three days later after the discovery of the body, officers were still on scene searching a field near where the discovery was made along Range Road 1-21 just north of Highway 16.
A number of rumours have been floating around the small area, but officers have remained tight-lipped.
"It's way too early in our investigation to state exactly what happened and what exactly we're looking for, so we're hoping the public will step up to the plate and assist our investigators," said Doris Stapleton with the RCMP's K Division.
If you have any information about the case, you're asked to call the Vermilion RCMP at (780) 853 - 4111. Or if you'd like to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or online.
