EDMONTON - This week, a new movie theatre is hoping to revolutionize how movies can be experienced in our city.
The Cineplex Odeon in Windermere is said to be "an experience." It doesn't just offer movies, it also features adult-only VIP services in three of its 11 auditoriums. Movie-goers can also enjoy more legroom with wide leather seats, as well as food delivered to your seat. In fact, there's even a lounge if you want to grab a drink before or after the show.
"You've got to always keep raising the bar and we saw that people really wanted this kind of experience," says Ellis Jacob, Cineplex Entertainment President and CEO.
Danny Ta, who loves going to the movies with his girlfriend, is a big fan of the VIP experience.
"They have little tables where you can put your food, and servers come to you...and the front-row seats are actually the best seats in the house, so everything is really well done."
The extra perks though come with a hefty price, though. It'll cost you $20 dollars a ticket, and if you want a movie in 3D - make that $23 dollars.
The new theatre is the first one of its kind in Alberta, and only one of 10 in Canada. And while it's still unclear if the VIP experience will catch on, at Wednesday night's preview, it was a hit.
It officially opens on Friday.
