CALGARY- Western Canadians hope Lady Luck is on their side, with the introduction of a new lottery.
WESTERN MAX features a $2 million top prize, and seven additional $1 million jackpots every week. Participants pay $2 for three selections, and draws will take place every Friday night. Subsidiary prizes ranging from $2 to $100,000 are also up for grabs, with the odds of winning a prize 1 in 6.6.
The game will only be available in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Proceeds go towards priority programs and services in the provinces and territories.
In 2011, the Western Canada Lottery Corporation sold more than $1.2 billion worth of tickets.
The first WESTERN MAX draw takes place on March 1.
