Murder charge laid in north end death

A 41 year old has become the city’s latest murder victim.

Daniel Edward Barata was found dead outside a home in the are of 129 avenue and 64 street Wednesday morning.

“There's evidence there was a fight inside,” says Inspector Brian Nowlan of EPS said Wednesday. “There's evidence the fight spilled outside. The call we initially got was that there was a disturbance taking place on the street out in front.”

An autopsy showed Barata died from a stab wound.

Bryan Crane, 28, of Edmonton has been charged with 2nd degree murder.

This is the city's 8th homicide of 2012.
