The 70-year-old woman who was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Calgary Trail with her husband on Wednesday morning has passed away in hospital.
At approximately 12 p.m. on July 11, 2012, the EPS received a report of a collision involving one vehicle and two pedestrians at approximately 48 Avenue, on Calgary Trail. The woman’s 77-year-old husband died at the scene.
No charges have been laid at this time and the investigation continues.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision to call police on the non-emergency complaint line, 780-423-4567.
This is the 20th traffic fatality of 2012, and the eight pedestrian fatality. In 2011, there were 10 traffic fatalities and five pedestrian fatalities during the same time span.
