Beatlemania is taking over Churchill Square and City Hall ahead of Paul McCartney's historic two concerts in Edmonton this week.

To pay tribute to the 70 year-old legend, who's set to take the Rexall stage for two sold-out shows this Wednesday and Thursday, the City has transformed 102A Avenue into the iconic Abbey Road - complete with street signs and cut-outs of McCartney and his former Beatles bandmates.

People are invited to come down and take their picture on the recreated famous crosswalk.

If you make the trip during the lunch hour, you can expect to hear McCartney and Beatles tunes performed live by a local pianist, and piped out into the City Room and onto Churchill Square.

There are also displays of the group and special memorabilia set up around the Square, as well as British beer and scotch tasting inside the Three Bananas Café.

You'll even be able to find horse-carriage rides.

On Tuesday from 7-10:45 p.m. in the City Room, there will be a free special screening of the movie 'A Hard Day's Night.' The 1964 British black and white 90 minute comedy, filmed before The Beatles hit it big in America, follows a day in the life of the Fab Four.

There will also be a screening of Paul McCartney's new 13-song film, Live Kisses.

On Sunday night, McCartney performed in Vancouver, where he sang roughly 40 numbers for more than 40,000 screaming fans. It was his first show in Vancouver since performing there with the Beatles in 1964.

His concerts in Edmonton this week will be his first ever in our city. There will be tailgate parties at the Edmonton Expo Centre before both shows.
