Alberta’s deputy premier is coming under fire for a controversial Facebook post.

On Tuesday, Thomas Lukaszuk posted a photo of Fairmont, B.C. where a major landslide stranded hundreds of campers. The caption read, “Fairmont in Hot Springs has a good deal on rooms today. If a little bit of mud doesn’t bother you, book now!!!”

The post sparked some angry comments, including one that said “How many people have died in mud slides in BC this weekend. I don’t find this to be funny.”

By Tuesday afternoon, the Facebook post had been removed and Lukaszuk tweeted “Sorry for my FB post. I’m out of Canada and was not aware of the scope of the situation in BC. I removed the post.”

This isn’t the first time the deputy premier has found himself making headlines for the wrong reasons. During the spring election it was reported he got into a physical altercation with a voter while out campaigning, and last month an e-mail circulated from federal minister Jason Kenney calling Lukaszuk a “complete and utter a-hole.”
