Mob beats man trying to quell riots in downtown Vancouver
The streets of downtown Vancouver erupted in chaos Wednesday night following Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals.
Over 100,000 people watched the game between the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins. Following the Canucks loss, groups of rioters smashed windows and lit cars on fire.
One man was beaten by over 10 people after trying to prevent rioters from smashing windows at a large department store.
In the video below at the 2:45 mark, a man in a black t-shirt can be seen standing between the crowd and the store windows.
After yelling at the crowd to stop the destruction, and removing two men from the storefront, he is attacked by violent rioters, thrown to the ground, while being punched and kicked.
Eventually, bystanders step in to break up the attack, and remove the man from the crowd.
Meanwhile groups have popped up on Facebook and blogging sites asking anyone with photos of Wednesday night’s rioters to post them online, in hopes of identifying them.
So far, over 45,000 people have joined the Facebook group “Vancouver Riot Pics.”
