Air ambulance services study ordered
Envision Edmonton and those supporting the closure of the city centre airport have finally found something they can agree on. Both sides say they welcome a new report ordered by the premier on the wisdom of moving air ambulance services from the city centre airport to the international.
On Tuesday, Envision Edmonton met with Premier Stelmach and convinced him to order the new study. The premier said services will not move until he's satisfied Albertans will not be put in jeopardy. Airport closure advocates say it's a wise move. They're confident the findings of a new study will clear the air once and for all.
"If you take a look at last year's report, many health care stakeholders are in that report. It's all the same." Govand Pillai of the NAIT Students Association said. "The idea that any risks of moving are all manageable."
No completion date has been set for the new study. It may not be done in time for the October election. That's when Envision Edmonton hopes a plebiscite on closing the airport will be held.
