RCMP say an Alberta family is dead after a motorist found their bodies in a ditch near St. Walburg, Saskatchewan on Monday afternoon.
The bodies of 26-year-old Darren Wourms, his 23-year-old wife Hayley and their two-year-old son Cayden were discovered in the ditch next to a grid road northwest of the community.
A small caliber .22 rifle was recovered at the scene and Mounties say there are no indications of anyone else being involved in the deaths.
The bodies have been taken to Saskatoon and autopsies are scheduled for today.
The family was from Airdrie, Alberta but had ties to Saskatchewan.
RCMP in Airdrie have confirmed that they responded to a third party call on April 24th saying family members were concerned for the well-being of the family.
A 26-year-old man was transported to a Calgary hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
No charges were laid and agencies were called in to assist the family.
St. Walburg is approximately 240 km northwest of Saskatoon.
