Alberta hasn’t had a provincial election this exciting for decades, and we have the ability to cover that story like never before thanks to the online tools at our disposal. Those two things should make for a rivetting election night on the Global Alberta websites in Edmonton, Calgary and Lethbridge.
Here’s what you can expect on April 23:
1. Live results as soon as they are available, and the election call by the Global Alberta decision desk as soon as it’s made.
2. Livestreams of Global Edmonton’s election night broadcast at globaltvedmonton.com and Global Calgary’s broadcast at globaltvcalgary.com and globallethbridge.com, starting when the polls close at 8 p.m. MT
3. A liveblog capturing Global reporters’ observations from the field, along with running commentary on the election results from users like you. The liveblog will be on the same page as the livestreaming video so you don’t miss any of the action.
4. Frequently updated stories on the outcome in Calgary, Edmonton and the rest of Alberta, and what it all means. Watch for coverage of the senate election, too.
5. Archived video of the highlights of the night, including (if all goes well), the speeches delivered by Progressive Conservative Leader Alison Redford and Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith.
6. Tons of updates, including riding-by-riding decisions, via Twitter from @globaledmonton, @globalcalgary and @globalleth. And watch for Facebook updates from Edmonton, Calgary and Lethbridge.
7. Want the news delivered straight to your inbox? Sign up for breaking news alerts at Global Calgary or Global Edmonton.
