Police investigating possible suspicious death in Edmonton's River Valley

EDMONTON - An investigation is underway after two mountain bikers came across a unconscious woman lying in Edmonton's Mill Creek Ravine Friday afternoon.

The woman, believed to be in her twenties, was found around 3 p.m. below the Mill Creek Bridge. She was taken to hospital, where she died shortly after.

The cause of her death is still unknown at this time, but police are treating it as suspicious until an autopsy can be performed.

Police are also still working to confirm her identity.

Investigators are currently gathering evidence, and looking for any witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious in the area prior.
