MS Liberation patient questions effectiveness of treatment
On Thursday the province announced that they would fund a study on the MS Liberation Treatment, and asked to hear from those who have the condition.
On Friday, some are already signing up to give their opinions. Not all of those opinions support the procedure which is currently unavailable in Canada.
About two months ago, Robyn Macdonald spent about $12,000 to travel to Costa Rica for the surgery. The procedure didn't have the positive effect that she had hoped it would. When Macdonald told her neurologist what happened to her, she was told her story was more common than she thought.
"I told her how it had gotten worse." She said. "And she said, she had seen 30 people where it didn't work. Where are they?"
Macdonald plans on telling her story in the recently announced observational study. And while she's disappointed with what happened to her, Macdonald still wants clinical trials to begin here soon.
She feels the procedure could prove helpful for many others like her.
