Illegal dumping site in south Edmonton cleaned up
The illegal dumping site that Global News uncovered earlier this week has now been cleaned up.
On Tuesday night, Global One caught a hydrovac truck dumping a sludge-like material at an illegal dumping site. On Thursday, Global News learned that the truck belonged to an Edmonton company called Commercial Trenching.
Beginning early Friday morning, the company cleaned up not only what their truck had dumped at the site, but all the junk filling the property.
The land located south of Ellerslie Road on 66th Street has been completely transformed from how it looked just yesterday, and the "no dumping" sign has been put back up.
Jason Crowley of Commercial Trenching said the company felt this was the best way to fix the situation.
"We sat down we had a meeting and we agreed we need to make it right and there's no point in going halfway," Crowley said on Friday.
The city plans on monitoring the site in the coming days before determining whether to fine the private property owner. It will also determine if it will fine Commercial Trenching for dumping at the site.
