Homicide at Edmonton Remand

The early-morning death of an inmate at the Edmonton Remand Centre has been ruled a homicide by Edmonton police.

Members of the Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section were called just after 5:00 a.m. regarding the suspicious death of a 60-year-old inmate.

As a result of their investigation another inmate, 25-year-old Justin Caldwell Somers, has been charged with 2nd degree murder.

Investigators have not released the cause of death or the victims name. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.
