EDMONTON — The RCMP will send a dive team to search a pond this week as part of their investigation into the disappearance of a St. Albert couple.

Police searched a rural property southwest of Nojack on Friday and Saturday in connection to the disappearance of Lyle and Marie McCann who vanished on their way to British Columbia over two months ago.

"The ground search is completed now and there is going to be a search utilizing some divers on Tuesday in a small body of water," Sgt. Tim Taniguchi said Sunday.

"It's on the same property ... this search is just one of many that have been conducted throughout this investigation." Major crimes investigators received information that led them to the property.

According to neighbours, the land belongs to a friend of Travis Vader, the only person police have named as a suspect in the case.

Lyle McCann, 78, and his wife Marie, 77, were last seen July 3 fuelling their motorhome in St. Albert, just north of Edmonton, as they headed for B.C. It was the last time their credit card was used.
