The city launched an online survey on Thursday, asking for Edmontonians to give their thoughts about the downtown arena district.

The survey asks Edmontonians if they think the downtown core needs to be revitalized, and if they believe a downtown arena would help aid that goal. It also poses questions about if the city should be involved in funding such a project.

In addition to the online survey, the city is also hosting a series of open houses for the public that will include discussion groups for residents to get involved. The dates for the open houses are as follows:

  • - Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 5:00-8:30 pm at the Santa Maria Goretti Centre, 11050-90 St.
  • - Wednesday, November 10, 2010 from 5:00-8:30 pm at Grant MacEwan University, Robbins Health Learning Centre, 10910-104 Ave.
  • - Monday, November 15, 2010 from 5:00-8:30 pm at Grant MacEwan University, Robbins Health Learning Centre, 10910-104 Ave.
  • - Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 5:00-8:30 pm at Grant MacEwan University, Robbins Health Learning Centre, 10910-104 Ave.
  • The city says input gathered at the four open houses and from the online survey will be used to help council make a decision on the future of the project.
