After four months of worry, fear, and a growing sense of apprehension, relatives and friends of a missing Edmonton couple are bracing themselves after the discovery of two bodies in an undeveloped west-end suburb.

Eloise Fendelet and Perry Kit Wong were last seen in late December in Edmonton.

"It's unbelievable, I just don't know how else to explain it. ... It's horrible. We're just hoping and wait-ing and praying," said one of Fendelet's relatives Thursday from Saskatchewan. The relative asked not to be identified.

Fendelet, 71, and Wong, 72, were last seen by friends Dec. 27.

They were reported missing after they failed to return to work Jan. 3.

Police launched a missing persons investigation, but later turned the file over to homicide investigators after failing to locate the couple.

The two bodies discovered Wednesday were found by a man driving past.

Police have not yet publicly identified the deceased. Autopsies were being performed on the bodies on Thursday.

RCMP said the remains are not believed to be those of a St. Albert couple, Lyle and Marie McCann, who have been missing since last summer and are presumed to be dead.

The McCanns' motorhome was found burned near Edson, about 200 kilometres west of Edmonton, last summer.
