The 25th anniversary of Rick Hansen's Man in Motion tour is being celebrated Monday, by a number of activities in and around Edmonton.
Students at Ecole Bellevue in Beaumont welcomed Hansen to their school.
As part of his coast to coast tour which started on August 24, Hansen has received help from 7,000 people who will carry his medal through their communities.
10 year old Emma Cooper was selected to be a medal carrier for her part in standing up against bullying at her school.
"I'm glad I carried the metal, it felt such an honour to feel what the medal was like, take a moment to feel it, see it and believe it." Cooper says.
She says Hansen inspires her to always follow her dreams and never give up.
Hansen says the most heart-warming part of his journey is being able to introduce his message to the next generation of Canadians.
"(I am) overwhelmed by their response, their encouragement and of course their talent and what they're doing to make a difference in the world today." Hansen says.
Coming back to Edmonton brings back amazing memories of the last time he traveled through our city.
"I'll never forget the generosity of the people of Alberta and of course Edmonton and those highlight moments will stay with me forever." he says.
Monday afternoon Hansen is being introduced at the legislature followed by a ceremonial puck-drop at the Oilers game.
He will continue on his 12,000 kilometre tour, finishing in Vancouver on May 22.
