EDMONTON- Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the City of Edmonton. The warning also includes much of Central and Southern Alberta.

A low pressure centre is expected to bring a significant amount of snow to the region Saturday night and into Sunday evening. Rain had already begun to fall in the Edmonton area by Saturday afternoon.

According to Environment Canada, western areas such as Grande Cache and Swan Hills are expected to receive up to 30 centimetres of the white stuff. The Edmonton area is expected to receive between 10 and 20 centimetres of snow by Sunday evening.

The snow will begin Saturday evening in the Grande Cache area and move into the capital region overnight, as the system moves towards Medicine Hat.

For the latest information on road conditions, motorists can call 511 or follow 511 Alberta on Twitter.
