EDMONTON - The city’s seasonal parking ban on residential bus routes is over as of 7 p.m. Sunday, the city said in a news release.

“Thank you to residents who moved their vehicles so that crews could do the best job possible,” the release stated.

The parking ban took effect on Friday at 7 a.m. to give city crews space to clear snow and get traffic moving freely on bus routes.

By Friday afternoon, bylaw officers had ticketed more than 500 vehicles to keep parked cars off residential bus routes so they could be properly plowed. Those who received the $50 tickets had the rest of the day to move their vehicles or face an extra $150 in impound fees if their vehicle had to be towed.

Vehicles were to be towed away Saturday.

City staff intend to release enforcement results related to the parking ban and provide an update about winter roadway maintenance during a news conference Monday morning.
