Edmonton Police are searching for a suspect, after a gun shot was fired outside a west end hotel, Saturday afternoon.

Police say an altercation between two men happened outside the Jasper Place Hotel around 12:30p.m. Officers say one of the men attempted to rob the other at gun point, while he was outside having a cigarette.

The suspect allegedly pulled out a large calibre handgun, shot the gun, then pointed it at the other male, demanding money. The suspect then fled the area on foot. Fortunately, no one was injured when the gun went off.

"It was more of a shot to intimidate or scare," explained Acting Inspector Sid Kingma adding, "This wasn't just a random act. I think there was some sort of relationship between the two, prior to this event."

Police are now looking for 25-year-old Scott Anthony Letiec. Police say Letiec is known to them, and he is wanted for over a dozen firearms related offences.

Letiec is described as caucasian, approximately 6'1" tall, weighs 200 lbs, with brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a green hoodie, blue jeans and a black baseball cap.

Police say Letiec should not be approached and is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is asked to immediately call the police complaint line at 780-423-4567.
