TORONTO - If you are booked with Air Canada today, it would be wise to check your flight status before heading to the airport.
Air Canada pilots could be mounting a mass synchronized sick call this morning.
Rumours stem from an internal newsletter circulated within the Air Canada Pilots Association.
They say these actions are not sanctioned, and the airline has warned its pilots against any illegal job action.
Air Canada posted a Canada-wide travel alert on their website Friday morning, urging customers to check their flight status for disruptions.
Air Canada (TSX:AC.A) has been embroiled in several labour disputes over the past few months, including with its 3,000 pilots.
In March, federal Labour Minister Lisa Raitt referred disputes with the pilots and Air Canada's 8,600 ground crew to the Canada Industrial Relations Board.
A back-to-work bill was passed in mid-March, but some ground workers staged a wildcat strike on March 23rd that affected several Air Canada flights.
