Pedestrian in critical condition after collision with SUV

A woman remains in critical condition after being hit by a car in west Edmonton Wednesday night.

The 21 year old woman was walking across the road at a crosswalk on 178 Street near 93rd Avenue, when she was hit by an SUV.

She was rushed to the U of A hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“All indications there was nothing that would have obstructed this driver’s view of the pedestrian,” says Sgt. Gary Lamont, of the Edmonton Police Service, “It would have been dark, but the area is well lit with street lights. So we’ll see what happens after we shake things out and have a look at all the evidence.”

Speed and alcohol was not a factor.
