EDMONTON- An Edmonton man is facing several charges, including voyeurism and making child pornography, after allegedly being involved in numerous incidents where females were videotaped in clothing store change rooms.
Strathcona County RCMP were called to the Sherwood Park Mall on Monday, December 17th after customers saw a man videotaping female customers while they tried on clothes in one of the store's change rooms.
RCMP say the mother of a 14-year-old girl saw what she believed was a recording device and called police.
"Our members responded and located a bag, a shopping type bag, in the change room that did contain a recording device," said Constable Wally Henry with Strathcona County RCMP.
Investigators were able to identify the suspect. Officers determined he was allegedly involved in 13 similar incidents that occurred at multiple clothing stores in both the Sherwood Park Mall and Londonderry Mall in north Edmonton. Police believe all of the incidents happened on December 17.
Joshua Meilleur, 27, of Edmonton was arrested on December 21, 2012. After searching his home, RCMP found an improperly stored firearm and ammunition.
As a result, Meilleur has been charged with the following offences:
- Twelve counts of Voyeurism
- One count of Making Child Pornography
- Unsafe Storage of a Firearm
- Unsafe Storage of Ammunition
- Unsafe Storage of a Prohibited Firearm Magazine
Meilleur has been released on bail. He appeared in Sherwood Park Provincial Court Wednesday morning, where his case was adjourned to February 13th.
