Jonathan Bacon was the oldest of the three ‘Bacon brothers’. Jarrod and Jamie Bacon are his two younger brothers, and all three have been linked to crimes across the Lower Mainland.

Jamie Bacon is currently in prison awaiting his trial for first-degree murder charges in what is known as the ‘Surrey six slayings’ that occurred in 2007. Jarrod is also awaiting trial on drugs and weapons charges.

Jonathan Bacon was to stand trial later this year or next year for drugs and weapons charges, but he was killed in a shooting outside the Delta Grand Hotel in Kelowna on Sunday August.

Jonathan was affiliated with a gang known as the Red Scorpions, whose members have been involved in a rivalry with a gang known as the United Nations (UN). It is believed they were affiliated at one time, but eventually broke apart from each other and became rivals.

The Province built a timeline in 2009 to show some of the major events and deaths that have taken place between the two gangs over the years. Many members have been brought down by gunfire, and there is fear spreading that retaliation could follow the Kelowna shooting.

Jonathan Bacon has previously been shot in 2006 in the driveway of his Abbotsford home, but survived.

The Surrey Six massacre occurred on October 19, 2007, where six people died, and it was back in May 2008 when the B.C. Integrated Gang Task Force issued a warning that the Bacon brothers and their associates were being targeted by members of rival gangs and anyone near them could get caught in crossfire.

A number of alleged Red Scorpions members have been killed over the years, many of them in public and busy locations.

David and Susan Bacon, along with their three sons moved to a swanky home in Abbotsford in 2001 but the three brothers also grew up in the city. Jonathan Bacon moved to Port Moody a few years ago, prompting police to issue a public warning to those living in the area after fears violence would increase due to his presence.

According to the Vancouver Sun, Jonathan was connected to a cross-border smuggling operation using helicopters, where a young woman died after a crash. Jonathan was never charged in the case.
