Losing your phone can be not just be costly, but also a privacy concern and a headache. Luckily, in addition to apps that can help you track down your missing phone, there are also gadgets to keep you from losing it in the first place.
The "Cobra Tag" is one of those devices. It's a sensor that looks like a key fob and can attach to your keys or purse. It communicates with a free app on Blackberries and Android phones, beeping to alert you when you've gotten about 30 feet from your phone.
The technology can also serve as a 2-way finder, allowing you to ring your smartphone by just tapping a button on the device.
The "ZOMM" is another similar handy device that acts like a wireless leash for your cell phone, syncing to any Bluetooth enabled phone. It will light up and a loud alarm will sound if you're about 30 feet from your phone, warning you that you've left it behind.
According to Certifed Radio specialist, Darryl Dahl, it's a simple way to prevent a common problem.
"Everyone's famous for leaving their phone on a table and walking away, or you pay for something at a store, you leave your phone there and then you wander off," he says. "And there's so much info on people's cellular phones now, personal pictures, all their information, that it's a key device not to leave around."
