Fire risk reduced in east-central Alberta; evacuees allowed to return home

EDMONTON - People forced to leave their homes because of a wildfire in east-central Alberta are being allowed to return.

The Municipal District of Bonnyville has lifted an evacuation order for the area around Forsythe Lake.

The municipality says fire conditions have improved and the risk to property has been reduced.

Authorities are asking that the public avoid roads leading into the fire region to allow firefighters to do their work.

Officials are asking boaters to stay off Moose Lake as water bombers are collecting water there.

There are more than 40 fires burning in the province.

One of the most serious is in the Grasslands area north of Edmonton.
