Police are investigating Edmonton's 37th homicide after a 27 year-old man died in hospital following a stabbing in west Edmonton late Saturday night.

Shortly after 10 p.m., police were called to a disturbance at the Inglewood neighbourhood's Baywood Apartments, near 115th Avenue and 132nd Street.

"Apparently a large group of individuals, some sort of a party going on, and an altercation occurred between a group of males. As a result of that altercation, one male suffered stab wounds," said Inspector Brian Nowlan at the scene.

The man was in serious condition as he was rushed to hospital, where he later died.

Police continue to investigate and have been speaking with witnesses, who have been cooperating. Investigators believe the victim knew his attackers, but they currently do not have any suspects in custody.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police at 780-423-4567. Or if they wish to remain anonymous, they can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
