EDMONTON - The Edmonton Police Service is issuing a warning about Kevin John Taylor, 49, who was recently released from the Bowden Correctional Centre after completing a 12 year sentence for a 2000 sexual assault.

Police say Taylor is a convicted violent sex offender who has sexually assaulted females 18 years and under. The EPS considers Taylor to be a high risk to re-offend sexually and violently against females.

Taylor will be residing in the Edmonton area and will be monitored by the EPS' Behavioral Assessment Unit.

The warning was issued by EPS after weighing privacy concerns against public interest. Members are of the belief that it is in the public interest to inform the members of the community about this release.

Taylor is Caucasian, 6’2” tall, weighs 185 lbs., and has grey hair and blue eyes.

In July of 2000, Taylor was arrested in a manhunt launched after an 11-year-old girl from the Morinville area was taken from her home and sexually assaulted. She was then left in a field.

In September of 2000, Taylor pleaded guilty to the abduction and sexual assault of the girl.
