It is an interest we share, transcendingpolitical lines and geographic boundaries.

Crucial to U.S. energy security:
Canadian oil reserves are vast andrank third in size to those of Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, with theoil sands (which represent an area larger than Florida) making upnearly 98 per cent of total Canadian reserves. With the KeystoneXL Pipeline, U.S. imports from Canada, a democratic friend andally, could reach 4 million barrels a day by 2020, twice what iscurrently imported from the Persian Gulf. The Keystone XLPipeline could also provide the critical infrastructure required totransport growing U.S. domestic production from the Bakken shaleregion to market.…2

The pipeline project is expected to createthousands of manufacturing and construction jobs and generate taxrevenues and significant business activity in local economies alongthe pipeline route.
