Charges of Sexual Exploitation laid against former Youth Worker

Strathcona County RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) have arrested and charged an adult female with 'sexual exploitation of a young person.'

Nicole Doreen Myrfield, age 34, of Leduc, Alberta, is a former employee of the Edmonton and Area Child and Family Services Authority and was working as a youth care worker at the time of the offence. It is alleged that Myrfield had an inappropriate relationship with a youth while being employed in a position of trust or authority over this youth.

She is charged with one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Young Person, contrary to Section 153 of the Criminal Code.

She has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Wednesday May 23, 2012 at 9:30 a.m.

The identity and the age of the youth cannot be released.
