LLOYDMINSTER- Charges have been laid in connection with a homicide in Lloydminster in late December.
Around 4:15a.m. Thursday, December 20, police and EMS were called to the Best Lodge in Lloydminster, after receiving a 911 call from someone saying a male was suffering from serious injuries. The man was found dead when emergency crews arrived.
The victim has been identified as 51-year-old Dustin Anthony Ferrante of Winnipeg.
27-year-old Damien James Mercer has been charged with second degree murder in connection with Ferrante's death. Mercer has also been charged with possession of a firearm while prohibited, and breach of recognizance.
RCMP have also charged 34-year-old Jeremy James Fensom with aggravated assault, three counts of intimidating a justice system participant, two counts of forcible confinement, and two counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited, in connection with Ferrante's death.
Officers say the pair's whereabouts are unknown at this time. Warrants have been issued for both Mercer and Fensom's arrest.
Fensom is also wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for violating his parole.
