Alberta's newest millionaires claimed their prize, Friday morning.
15 oilfield workers collectively won $25 million in last week's Lotto Max draw. The men work near Edson and play the lottery on a regular basis. The co-workers say they were in disbelief when they found out.
"(Keith was) in the corner with his arms crossed, shaking, and told me to look at the laptop and read the numbers off to him. I read them off and said 'So, what's the big deal Keith?' Then he passed me the ticket and I went through the numbers, my heart flew out of my chest and I dropped to the ground, right down to my knees, I couldn't believe it." explained Dustin Gibson, one of the winners.
Split 15 ways, each of the men will get about $1.6 million. Most of the winners say they'll use their winnings to pay off debt and travel.
"I'm going to Disney Land!" exclaimed Tristan Hodge.
"Clear away a little bit of my debt, I guess, share some with family, maybe take a nice vacation. It's going to be a nice Christmas this year," added Keith Gould.
"(I'm going to) try to be happy for the rest of my life!" said Clay Allister Genge with a smile.
Eight of the 15 men are originally from Newfoundland. Some of them will be using part of the money to fly home to be with their families for the holidays.
