A Lac La Biche foster parent and foster care supervisor is facing child pornography charges as a result of an investigation by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team's Internet Child Exploitation unit (ICE).
The ICE unit began an investigation after receiving information from the FBI about alleged child pornography distribution over the internet from a Lac La Biche residence.
A warrant was executed at the home in question on December 1st, where a computer and electronic storage devices were seized. A second search warrant was executed at Stoesz's place of employment,
where additional storage devices and a second computer was seized.
62 year-old Daniel Quiring Stoesz was later arrested by Bonnyville RCMP members, and charged with possessing and making available child pornography.
According to an RCMP news release, Stoesz is employed by the Government of Alberta Ministry of Human Services, and is a Foster Care Supervisor.
"As I understand it, the individual involved is well-known and well-respected in the community. So it obviously will have an impact. Just
the fact that there's an investigation and a charge. So our first
priority is to support the foster families and the staff in that
region," said Sgt. Mike Lokken of ALERT.
Stoesz remains in custody but made a court appearance on Friday, December 2nd. He will appear again on December 5th.
The investigation is ongoing.
