Occupation: RCMP Guard – Semi Retired

Location: Wetaskiwin

Ron was born and raised in Wetaskiwin. His interest in weather started when he worked as a Transalta Power Lineman which involved working in severe weather conditions. Ron witnessed the start of tornados and has seen hail 4 inches across. Now semi retired, he works part time as a Guard for the RCMP. Ron has three daughters and six grandchildren.

His main hobby is photography and processing photos on his MacBook Pro 17”. Other interests include fishing, collecting art, travelling and trading in his rifle for a camera to shoot wildlife. Ron’s photos have been used in many publications and on the City of Wetaskiwin website. You will see his work on four postcards that were published by the city for tourism. In 2011, he received an award from the Mayor recognizing his Outstanding Photography and for being an Ambassador of the City of Wetaskiwin.

Ron’s goal in photography is to create photos that are of interest, tell a story and are well done. “I chase rainbows…” says Ron, “ I like going out and taking photos of “Our Alberta” and catching wildlife in their natural surroundings.” Ron’s own website has over two million viewings. “My enjoyment comes when others appreciate my work.”
