Rainy weather on Tuesday did not stop 75 parents and students from rallying in front of the Edmonton Public Schools building over the noon hour to protest the closure of the kindergarten program at Riverdale school.
The board announced six days ago that the program will be closed due to low enrollment. Students will be bussed to Forest Heights School to attend kindergarten.
Those in the community say that if there's no kindergarten program at the school, it will be difficult to attract young families to the area.
The school board is arguing that the decision is the best one to ensure educational opportunities for students.
