The continued snowfall over the weekend brought a halt to clearing of residential streets, after crews were forced back onto major routes, but clearing of Edmonton's residential routes will begin again as of noon on Tuesday.

Barring more significant snowfall, crews will be out clearing residential streets from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm daily. Crews will resume in the areas where they left off on Sunday.

The city says the purpose of blading in residential neighbourhoods is to deal with ruts in the road. They shave the snow off bumpy areas and distribute it into the gaps.

Edmontonians are being asked not to park their vehicles on the street during work hours if they know their neighbourhood is scheduled to be cleared. The city has posted a list of neighbourhoods that will be cleared on January 15, 16 or 17th on their website.

In addition to residential clearing, crews will continue to remove windrows from arterial routes overnight, and from bus routes during the day.

According to the city, 50% of arterial routes have been plowed, and 25% of residential routes.

The city saw 509 calls to their 311 information number regarding snow clearing or windrows on Monday. According to the city, 20 of those calls were requesting information, the rest were calls for action.
