The death of an 18-year-old man who was shot at the Maple Ridge Trailer Park on Thursday, and died Friday morning is now being called suspicious by police.

Police and emergency crews were called to the trailer park in the area of 68 Ave. and 17 St. around 6:00pm on Thursday after a report of a man shot inside a residence. Zachariah Thompson was transported to hospital, where he died at 10:30 on Friday morning.

Edmonton’s Medical Examiner determined on Tuesday that Thompson died of a gunshot wound, although investigators are not releasing the type of gun involved in the incident, or the type of injuries Thompson sustained at this time.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are waiting for further testing and forensic results.
