Philanthropic family asks for help to find missing son
The family of a 20-year-old Edmonton man who has been missing since earlier this week is hoping members of the public trained in search and rescue can come forward and help find him.
Two men went swimming in the North Saskatchewan River near Rocky Mountain House earlier this week. 20-year-old Jeremy fell into some deeper water and was swept away. RCMP and search and rescue crews used helicopters, boats and underwater cameras to search for Jeremy for days, but he is still missing.
Jeremy is the son of Bob and Brenda, the owner of B's Diner. The family is well known for the work they have done with the homeless in our city, but now they are turning to their community for help.
"They've never asked for anything, and they do what they have to do to get help for the homeless." family friend Stephen Huish said on Friday, "Here they are now in their time of need, and it would be nice if we as a city could do a little something to help them back."
The family is asking anyone with search and rescue skills to come forward and help in the search for Jeremy, but they do not want anyone to put themselves in harm's way.
"We don't want anyone to come out and get themselves lost." he said "We want people with some skills, quads, boats whatever who have the time and the skills to help."
Anyone who thinks they can help is asked to call Jeremy's brother Emery at (780) 982-6751.
