Peter Johnston is an IT consultant and small business owner in the St Albert area. He graduated as an engineer (ChEng) from the U of Alberta. As a Professional Engineer, he worked in the oil patch for a period of time before deciding that computers were his calling. Since then he has worked in almost every facet of the computer industry and currently owns and operates an IT support firm.
He has toured throughout most of North America from northern Alaska to southern Mexico by motorcycle, never without a camera. "Nothing brings you closer to or makes you more aware of the weather than when on a motorcycle," he comments.
Peter has been interested in photography since he purchased his first 35mm camera at age ten and built his own darkroom the following winter. Since then he has continuously taken photographs, mostly of nature, the outdoors, and his family and cats.
"Weather has always fascinated me. I like nothing better than shooting photos of a storm as it evolves, trying to capture the energy, moods, and colours it presents. I am always searching for new and different ways to portray nature at it's most extreme through photos."
Becoming a Ground Force member allows him to combine both these interests together. He is seldom to be found without a camera, wherever he goes.
